We really bogged down in Chapter 16 of Matter and Interactions. Neither my son nor I could find much enthusiasm for doing the problems, which were incredibly boring calculus exercises. Even after cutting down the number of problems, we still had were going very slowly. So today I cut our losses, declared Chapter 16 done and we read Chapter 17. We discussed a couple of concepts (like what the dielectric constant for a metal would be, if it had one) and did one problem together. Over the next week, we’ll try to do the following problems (2 a day):
17P45, 17p47, 17P61, 17P63, 17P66, 17P68, 17P70, 17P80, 17P82, 17P96, 17P99, 17P103
